CCU president appointed on NCAA Diversity and Equity Committee

Coastal Carolina University president was announced as an Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) presidential representative on the NCAA Board of Governors Committee to Promote Cultural Diversity and Equity.

The committee was made to review, endorse, and make recommendations regarding diversity and inclusion issues related to the organization, according to the NCAA website. The website said reports from other committees, such as the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics and NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee, will be reviewed by this board.

The committee has 13 members, including presidents, diversity officers, athletic administrators, and student-athletes, according to CCU Director of Communication Jerry Rashid. Rashid said in a CCU news article that Benson’s term on the NCAA Board of Governors Committee to Promote Cultural Diversity and Equity will last until August 2024.

In Rashid’s article, Benson said it would be an honor to represent Coastal Carolina University and is looking forward to making a positive impact going forward.
