Coastal football trades playbooks for likes and shares as Coastal pairs its annual spring scrimmage with Snapback Sports and content creators.
Along with the traditional scrimmage, this year’s event will also feature a creator 7-on-7 flag football matchup hosted by Snapback Sports, bringing several well-known sports content creators to Conway on Friday.
The night will begin with Coastal Carolina’s scrimmage before the creator matchup takes the field later in the evening. The game will be streamed live across Snapback Sports’ social media platforms.
Snapback Sports has built a large online following through sports content creator collaborations, having more than 4 million followers across social media platforms. According to GoCCUSports, in 2024 alone the company generated more than 3.2 billion impressions across its digital channels.
The creator matchup will feature 20 content creators competing under the lights, including Bengal, Swift and GFed. According to GoCCUSports, the group has a social media following of more than 5 million and over 1.75 million YouTube subscribers.
The Spring Game will give fans a first look at the new Chanticleers players and regime, led by head coach Ryan Beard with a completely revamped roster, headlined by an entirely new quarterback room.
Several newcomers are expected to compete for snaps as the coaching staff begins evaluating depth and chemistry heading into the fall season.
“They’re students of the game. If you have a quarterback room that comes in and they want more film and they’re hungry to get better, that’s the sign of a really good quarterback room and they’ve done those things,” Beard said in a press conference about the spring practices.
The offensive side of the ball has seen significant changes beyond the quarterback position.
Coastal enters the spring with a reshaped wide receiver room after offseason roster turnover, opening the door for new faces to step into larger roles.
Luke Williams, a junior business management major, said he is excited to see the first spring game of the Ryan Beard era.
“I’m interested in seeing how the transfers and returning players mesh into Ryan Beard’s new system,” Williams said. “The spring game will gauge how that has gone so far through spring practice.”
Jake Simoni, a sophomore special education major, said he is also eager for the event.
“I’m excited to see what the new quarterbacks can do,” Simoni said. “And the 7-on-7 game is definitely something for us fans to look forward to.”
With the addition of the creator matchup later in the night, the event is expected to bring a unique atmosphere to Brooks Stadium as Coastal Carolina continues preparing for the year ahead.
