Coastal Carolina University announced on Sunday, Nov. 30, that head football coach Tim Beck was dismissed following the conclusion of the 2025 season.
The Chanticleers finished the year with a 6–6 record and closed the season with a 59–10 loss to James Madison University on Saturday, Nov. 29.
Chance Miller, Coastal Carolina’s vice president for intercollegiate athletics and university recreation, addressed Beck’s dismissal in a news release.
“After a comprehensive review of our entire football program and its trajectory, I’ve determined a change is needed moving forward,” Miller said. “We are grateful to Coach Beck for his efforts the past three seasons. We certainly wish Coach and his family well in their future endeavors. Our expectation for this football program is to win the Sun Belt conference championship and compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff, and that will guide us in our search for our next head coach.”
According to GoCCUSports, defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson is set to serve as interim head coach for the upcoming bowl game. The university said a national search for Beck’s successor will begin immediately.
Beck was hired prior to the 2023 season and led the program for three years. During his tenure, CCU compiled an overall record of 20–18.

The Chanticleers 2025 campaign ended at 6–6. Of the six losses recorded during the season, five were by margins of 21 points or more. The season finale against James Madison marked Beck’s final appearance as the Chanticleers’ head coach.
Prior to his arrival at Coastal Carolina, Beck had spent more than 30 years coaching at the collegiate level. He held previous coaching positions at the University of Nebraska, Ohio State University, University of Texas and North Carolina State University, working primarily as an offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. His experience included multiple seasons within both the Big Ten and Atlantic Coast conferences before his appointment as Coastal Carolina’s head coach.
Across Beck’s three seasons with CCU, the Chanticleers qualified for postseason play twice and remained active members in the Sun Belt Conference. His teams completed three full seasons with varying results before the program made its coaching change following the conclusion of the 2025 schedule.
