The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (6-4 overall, 5-2 Sun Belt) will travel to Columbia on Saturday, Nov. 22, to face the University of South Carolina Gamecocks (3-7 overall, 1-7 SEC) in an out-of-conference matchup where both teams will be looking to bounce back from recent losses.
Coastal will be without starting quarterback Samari Collier due to injury. Tad Hudson is set to start after throwing 173 yards, one interception, and no touchdowns in last week’s game against Georgia Southern University.
Coastal’s running back trio of Ja’Vin Simpkins, Dominic Knicely, and Jevon Edwards combined for 1,228 rushing yards this season. On defense, the Chanticleers have allowed 99 points over the last three games, including 45 in their loss against Georgia Southern.
South Carolina enters the matchup with quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who has recorded 1,782 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns, and 186 rushing yards with three rushing touchdowns.
Wide receiver Nyck Harbor leads the Gamecocks’ receivers with 24 receptions, 503 yards, and five touchdowns. Defensively, Dylan Stewart has produced 31 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. The Gamecocks also allowed a 30-3 lead to disappear in its loss to nationally ranked No. 3 Texas A&M University last week, giving up 31 unanswered points in one quarter.
