On Wednesday, a lively event filled with a variety of de-stressing and fun activities made its way to Prince Lawn.
The event featured a multitude of different things ranging from food and activities to club tables. The event had a large turnout with many students taking part in the festivities.
RJ Bean, a senior sustainability and coastal resilience major, described how important this event is to students who may be struggling currently.
“It’s that time of year when things get really rough for everybody. So, this is a nice event to let everyone relax and de-stress with some different events like there’s some slime, there’s some stress balls and coloring,” Bean said.
Students shot water guns at targets, made slime, colored, created wreaths, decorated pumpkins and shopped in a pop-up thrift shop. Alongside the activities were fall themed foods, including chili.
Teagan Legg, a senior women and gender studies major, ran the Planned Parenthood Generation Action (PPGA) table. Legg shared why events like these are so important for campus climate.
“I think that if you are stressed, you can’t give 100% to your schoolwork. We’re all here and school is the priority, obviously so, if we’re stressed, we’re not doing school to the best of our ability and that’s what you want to do. So, this is a great way to de-stress and then re-prioritize things in your life,” Legg said.
Pet-A-Pups was also at the event. The dogs were from the Grand Strand Chapter of Love on a Leash. Barbara Tilke, one of the two-chapter co-leaders along with Lynda Schwanekamp, brought her dog Sugar with her.
“We love coming to CCU and seeing all the students enjoy our dogs,” Tilke said.
