Chant of the Week: Graham Brown

This week’s Chant of the Week is senior right fielder Graham Brown of Coastal Carolina University’s baseball team.

The Chants won two of the three games in their series at home against Georgia Southern University, largely thanks to Brown’s dominance at the plate. In 12 at-bats, the senior came away with six hits, including three doubles and a home run. He also tallied up four runs and four runs batted in on the series.

Brown’s outstanding performance April 3-9 earned himself Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week honors, according to a university press release sent out April 10.

Brown is having a very successful season with a .360 batting average, eight home runs, and 34 runs batted in. During the previous week, Brown hit over .500 and his OBP was .563. He has also walked 13 times, scored 37 runs, and has recorded 14 doubles.

“We knew this was going to be a big weekend series against a very good team and I was just trying to do everything I could to help,” Brown said regarding his performance this weekend.

Brown said he has loved his time playing for Coastal and also believes his team can make a run in the postseason.

“I love the team, coaches and all the fans. We are all so close. This team, in my opinion, is very special,” he said. “We have what it takes to go very far into the postseason but right now we are all focused on one game at a time.”

Brown is from Middletown, Maryland, where he attended Middletown High School and played soccer, basketball and baseball. Apart from baseball, he also loves to golf, noting that he tries to golf every off day if possible.

Brown and his 17th nationally ranked Chants look to improve on their 20-9 overall and 9-3 in-conference records as their season progresses.
