The Coastal Carolina University men’s basketball team dismantled the Methodist University Monarchs with a final score of 110-47.

The Chanticleers took the lead against the Monarchs and never looked back. Despite having the lead, CCU kept its foot on the gas and extended the score to a 70-point differential.

The first half was all about Coastal, including two dunks by recent transfer DJ Basey. The Chanticleers were up 52-23 at the end of the half.

The second half was no different from the first, with a 31-2 run ending the Monarchs’ hopes of making a comeback. Coastal had Methodist completely outsized, letting them dominate the paint and the glass, allowing them to out-rebound them 52-22.

The Chanticleers scored points with ease, shooting 55% from the field and 48% from beyond the three-point line.

Coastal was also close to breaking some of its school records. With 16 made threes, they tied the school record for most in a game. Guard Henry Abraham was just two assists away from breaking the school record with 14 assists.

The Chanticleers had five players reach double-digit scoring, guard Linton Brown led the team with 23 points. Forward Jimmy Nichols dominated and led the team with 15 rebounds.

The Chanticleers will be back in action on the road against the University of South Carolina Upstate on Nov. 18.
