Coastal Carolina University’s American Cancer Society student organization raised a grand total of $110,348.04 on April 6.
41 registered teams held a friendly competition to race toward a cure from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The event was full of outdoor activities, mini games and other ways to donate.
A representative from each team had to walk along the Relay for Life path in Blanton Park. Vice President of CCU’s American Cancer Society Taylor Balint said if cancer doesn’t stop, neither should they.
The walkers got a bead for each lap and chose from different colors, indicating which type of cancer they wished to represent.
