The Department of Facilities Planning and Management at Coastal Carolina University informed students, faculty and staff on Jan. 26 that contractors would begin working on a new parking lot across U.S. Route 501.
The email stated that certain zones would be off-limits due to construction, from Jan. 29 throughout the summer.
However, these areas of construction are not on campus. A parking lot, noted in the email, is being built across from the Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetlands Studies, located behind the Human Resources building.
Rein Mungo, the director of Facilities Planning and Management, said the email was sent out as a courtesy to students, regardless of whether or not students were using that parking lot prior to construction.
