Tabitha Lowery
Assistant Professor of English Tabitha Lowery teaches students to excel in African American literature.
Lowery’s publications focus on “Affrilachia,” a term referring to African Americans who inhabited the mountains of Appalachia.
Lowery obtained her doctoral degree at West Virginia University, a master’s at Texas Tech University, and a bachelor’s from Southern Arkansas University.
There are many examples of Lowery’s work to educate students. Earlier this month she led a virtual workshop on Octavia Butler, “Black in the past”, at Truman State University.
