Men’s baseball notch easy win against UT Arlington

Coming off a 4-3 walk-off win, the men’s baseball team won in commanding fashion over University of Texas Arlington, with the final score being 7-1. 

 

The game took place on April 23, and the two teams were tied 1-1 going into the third, but then the Chanticleers erupted with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Two of those runs came from a Christopher Rowan Jr. RBI-double and a sacrifice fly by Tyler Johnson. Coastal led 4-1 at the end of the third. 

 

The bottom of the fourth inning was a special one for Redshirt Junior Kameron Guangorena. He hit his first home run as a Chanticleer, giving the team a 5-1 lead going into the fifth.

Fast forward to the bottom of the seventh with the Chants still leading 5-1. Eric Brown’s RBI-single and an error by UTA’s first basemen propelled the team to a 7-1 lead.  

 

Player highlights:  

  • CCU pitchers Elliott Carney and Michael Knorr combined to strikeout 13 of UTA’s hitters throughout the game 
  • Brown had a game-high three hits out of four at bats and managed to steal two bases to excite the crowd at Spring Brooks Stadium 
  • Guangorena also had the home crowd up on their feet with his solo home run shot 

 

The Chanticleers won their third game against UTA 3-2 on April 24 to complete the series sweep.
