In the Oct. 2 issue, The Chanticleer wrote an article titled, “‘CCU Pisser’ aims for fame” which covered the “CCU Pisser,” and reported on what many would consider unusual: an anonymous student urinating across campus.
The Chanticleer’s staff members, students and professors alike have shared laughs when talking about this so called ‘pisser.’ Yet, some readers dismissed this power of comedy and the ‘pisser’ himself, claiming it was an unsanitary and a foolish method of self-expression.
Some labeled it a pointless story. We, the editorial board, argue that sometimes it is necessary to embrace this silly essence of college students. After all, isn’t that what makes up this campus?
With midterm exams on the brink, as well as the current uprise of violence and political divide in our country, why not welcome something foolish?
The ‘pisser,’ tuning into a recent TikTok trend, may not have known what he was doing at the time, but in the end, he provided us at The Chanticleer with comedic relief.
The ‘pisser’ consistently posted videos of himself supposedly urinating on campus, which evidently caused a stir. This left the entire campus, students and staff, pondering his identity; a fun game of sorts that a ‘detective’ soon joined in on.
It is often the silliest things that allow us to sit back, sigh and realize how much we love being a silly human being. Sometimes, it is okay to just let out a laugh about something random, stupid or even pointless.
Moreover, we believe anyone who is concerned with the “pisser’s” work should have bigger things to worry about.
