Coastal Carolina looks to bounce back and regain momentum Saturday against the University of Louisiana (UL) Monroe Warhawks. Both teams are coming off lopsided losses in Week 6. The Chanticleers fell to Old Dominion 47–7 last Saturday, while the Warhawks lost to Northwestern 42–7.
Quarterback Tad Hudson leads Coastal’s offense throwing 429 passing yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions on the season.
UL Monroe quarterback Aiden Armenta has thrown 573 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions.
Both quarterbacks will look to improve efficiency after struggling in their most recent outings. Looking back to previous game statistics, it seems Armenta and the Warhawks may have better luck in the match.
Running backs Ja’Vin Simpkins and Dominic Knicely are looking to have stronger performances on the ground after limited success last week.
The duo leads the Chanticleers in rushing yards this season and will play a key role in helping Coastal establish balance on their offense.
The Chanticleers’ defense will focus on containing the Warhawks running back Braylon McReynolds, who has 358 rushing yards and two touchdowns in five games.
Coastal’s defense is coming off a difficult performance, allowing over 300 rushing yards and more than 300 passing yards in the loss to Old Dominion.
Improving their defensive discipline and tackling will be key for Coastal this week.
Coastal Carolina holds a 2–3 record overall and 1–1 in Sun Belt Conference play, while UL Monroe stands at 3–2 overall and will play its first conference game of the season against Coastal this Saturday.
According to ESPN’s matchup predictor, UL Monroe enters as the favorite, adding pressure to the Chanticleers to defend their home.
Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. EST at Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina.
