A local TikTok user known as the “CCU Pisser” has gained more than 3,700 followers this month, drawing attention to Coastal Carolina University’s campus after posting videos of himself allegedly urinating on both campus and off-campus landmarks.
Identifying as an anonymous Coastal student, they are one of many students across the country participating in the university “pisser” TikTok trend.
Freshman health science major, Gracie Leon, shared her opinions on the anonymous account and how the CCU Pisser has become a regular topic of conversation among students.
“I think it’s funny. I’ve seen it going on at other schools and now it’s at our school,” Leon said. “Everybody’s reposting his TikTok’s and trying to figure out who it is.”
Other students have turned the mystery into content of their own.
As a parody of the TV show Dexter, each video plays a specific Dexter audio in the background. For every student who becomes their university pisser, another becomes a detective based on the character Sergeant James Doakes.
Freshman theatre major Lathen J. Harris created his own TikTok persona, “CCU Detective Doakes,” posting videos where he investigates campus “crime scenes” and predicts where the CCU Pisser may strike next.
“It’s a cat and mouse game,” Harris said. “We’re gonna catch him very, very soon.”
University officials, however, seem to be taking this matter seriously. Director of Public Safety, Chief Robert Pellerin responded to The Chanticleer that this is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information to give out at this time.
According to CCU’s Student Code of Conduct, the acts in these videos could be classified as disorderly conduct.
The policy under the IV. Non-Academic Conduct Code reads, “conduct that disrupts the academic and social environment of the campus or surrounding areas may be deemed disorderly.” Examples include, “obscene conduct and/or indecent exposure.”
Speculation among students suggests the pisser may be a senior, though no identities have been confirmed.
The CCU Pisser has declined to comment at this time. For now, the creator remains unknown, and their video posts continue as usual.
