Coastal Carolina University dismisses one employee and suspends another upon Congress members request, regarding their social media posts referencing the death of Charlie Kirk.
Twelve hours ago, South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace Reposted Rep. Adam Morgan’s X post, tagging the university and demanding them to fire CCU Public Safety Dispatcher Kyle Malanowski.
“An alleged ‘public safety’ employee at South Carolina college suggests I will be assassinated next,” Mace posted.
According to Mace’s post, following Kirk’s death, Malanowski disputed the claim that violence is never the answer.
“The truth is, violence has ended more evils than peaceful words ever have. It’s not about whether violence is the answer – it’s about when it becomes the only answer,” Malanowski wrote.
Also included in Mace’s post was Malanowski’s response to Mace encouraging prayer for the suspect in Kirk’s murder. Here he hinted at hoping for Mace’s death to soon follow.
“No surprises there – especially from this 2 faced cunt. But with how much she loves throwing slurs around on the congress floor she might not be too far behind,” Malanowski wrote.
Comments on the Facebook post demanded the termination and imprisonment of Malanowski.
Monday evening, South Carolina Congressman Russell Fry also called on the university to act on CCU Graduate Program Manager Kaitlin Nash for a recent social media post.
Nash reposted a quote on her social media stating, “The controversy isn’t about being ‘politically incorrect,’ ‘Having a difference of opinion,’ or, ‘Preaching the gospel,’ it is about repeating bigoted ideas on a stage that reached tens of millions.”
“Justification of this horrendous act on ANY LEVEL is unacceptable. Hopefully Coastal Carolina University will take action much quicker than Clemson University,” Fry wrote on Facebook.
The Chanticleer reached out to CCU for comment. The university provided their public statement addressing the controversy, but said “Given that this is a personnel matter, no additional details are available.”
The university statement is as follows:
“Coastal Carolina University has received reports of social media content posted by university employees and individuals not employed by the University. Based on these reports and in accordance with applicable University policy, one employee has been dismissed, effective immediately, and another has been suspended without pay, pending further review….CCU is committed to upholding our institutional values as we continue to pursue our core mission of supporting student success with the highest standards of integrity and accountability.”
