The 35th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Myrtle Beach covered the streets with Irish spirit with plenty of green and live band performances and festivities.
Brandy Cloos, the special events program supervisor, said the average turnout for this event is 30,000 people per year. The final count for Saturday’s parade totaled approximately 41,000 visitors, according to Cloos.
Interim Marketing Manager Russell Dowley encouraged the parents of prospective Coastal Carolina University students to tell their children about expanding Teal Nation brand in hopes of strengthening the university.
By appealing to the Coastal sports fans through selling teal Coastal hats, shirts and brochures to bolster influence outside of Conway.
48% of the attendees were Horry County residents, and approximately 52% came from outside the county this year, Cloos said.
People were seen prancing to contemporary Irish rock and renditions of R&B in the middle of the congested road coupled, with constant crowds of people seen coming from Main Street, North Myrtle Beach and to the pier.
