Senior psychology major, Jarius Heggins, and his girlfriend, Kaitlynn
“We had met actually in our very first class together, University 110, our freshmen year. We started off as friends, but the tension was there, and it felt like a very slow burn romance. Overtime, you just kind of realize that everything you need is right there with you, and we just fell in love. We just passed our one-year mark a few weeks ago. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, I love her more than anything.”
Sophomore communication major, Ava Norris, and her girlfriend, Caitlin
“We actually met in sixth grade because we did soccer together, and we were best friends for a very long time. Obviously, we loved each other very much but as I started to get older I thought, Hm, maybe I could love her in a way that’s not as a friend: Which was very confusing at the time, but we got older. Over quarantine, we didn’t really talk. We kind of got rekindled by common friends and stuff like that. We used to go to the library all the time, and we would be alone a lot together and then it just kind of happened.”
Abby Keough, freshman business management major, and her boyfriend, Lex
“We got really close. He was my best friend, I could tell him everything. We were literally inseparable. We were debating if we wanted to get into a relationship because we both liked each other but we didn’t want to ruin our friendship. In May of 2024 we started dating, and I feel like every day we’re stronger than ever.”
Ashley Tull, freshman marine science major, and her boyfriend, Nathan
“Nathan and I met through my high school friend. One dav I went over to his dorm to hangout and meet his roommates, and that’s when I got introduced to Nathan. We were just friends at first, and then we started hanging out one-on-one and he would get me flowers, took me out on a date and then we started catching feelings for each other. Soon after that he asked me to be his girlfriend. Ever since we’ve been really close, and its just a great relationship.”
Grace Luton, freshman forensic psychology major, and her boyfriend, Easton
“It was in high school, and his aunt was my art teacher. He was in college already, but he had come home for the weekend. I was a senior in high school. We were both in the gym and his aunt was in there and she introduced us. A couple weeks later we found out my best friend was his cousin, so we started hanging out all the time with my cousin and our friends and it went from there. We had a first date planned but I broke my arm, so our first date was us on my couch after surgery and that was the next like two months of dates. He just sat in the living room with me for 2 months since I couldn’t get up.”
Leea Port, junior communication major, and her boyfriend, Andrew
“We went to high school together, and it was the first few days of sophomore year. We didn’t really know each other, but then we had a class together. We really started talking on Instagram, and he immediately liked me. It’s so modern, you know, we talked on Instagram, and then we just started dating. Our first date was the homecoming football game. I remember getting my first kiss in the cafeteria hallway, and I felt like a princess.”
