With bowl season just around the corner, four Coastal Carolina University football players have entered the transfer portal.
Redshirt senior Tight End, Kendall Karr, Redshirt senior Quarterback, Noah Kim, Redshirt sophomore Bandit, Clev Lubin, and Redshirt sophomore Quarterback Ethan Vasko are among the four.
The four playmakers took to social media on Dec. 2 to declare that they were taking their remaining eligibility and entering the transfer portal. Along with their declarations, each player made sure to praise both the institution and coaching staff.
“I want to thank Coach [Tim] Beck and his staff for believing in me and giving me a shot two years ago,” Karr said in an Instagram post. “I’ve had a blast here at Coastal.”
Karr transferred to Coastal Carolina from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill following the 2022 season. He ended his Chanticleer career with 473 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
“I have decided to enter the transfer portal for my last year of eligibility,” Kim captioned a post on Instagram. “Thank you Coastal, God Bless.”
Throughout the season, Kim saw limited opportunities behind starter Vasko. However, the quarterback capitalized on the opportunities given to him. The Michigan State University transfer ends his Coastal Carolina career with 333 passing yards, four touchdowns and one interception.
Although Lubin’s time with Coastal was short, the transfer from Iowa Western Community College made an impact as part of the defense on and off the stat sheet.
“I want to thank the coaching staff and the community here at Coastal Carolina for giving me the opportunity to thrive in this environment,” Lubin said in a post on X. “I’m forever grateful to be a Chant.”
Lubin finished his time at Coastal with 44 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. Additionally, Lubin was awarded Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Coastal’s win over Appalachian State University.
Ethan Vasko transferred to Coastal from the University of Kansas after the 2022 season and started every game for the Chanticleers this season. Vasko finishes his stint at Coastal with 2889 pass yards, 21 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to Coastal Carolina University for the incredible opportunity to play football and contribute to the Chanticleers program for the past two years,” Vasko in a post on Instagram. “I especially appreciate Coach Beck for believing in me and giving me the chance to compete at this level.”
