This semester we welcomed our first-ever candidate class at Coastal Carolina University. The Candidate Program, created by Student Media Coordinator John Harvey, is a system built to train aspiring student journalists to be writers and reporters.
The eight-week program teaches students the basic skills necessary for writing stories, interviewing, newsgathering and more. At the conclusion of the program, the candidates take a final test, becoming official Chanticleer reporters.
On Tuesday, Nov. 12, nine committed, hardworking candidates completed the program and joined our staff reporters.
