Coastal Carolina fell to Georgia Southern University on Nov. 23 at Brooks Stadium on senior day for the final home game of the 2024-2025 season.
Georgia Southern jumped out 3-0 to open things up after a 15 play, 74 yard drive to for the Eagles was capped off by a Gavin Stewart 22-yard field goal.
The Eagles offense would pick up where it left off after forcing Coastal to go 3 and would extend their lead to 10-0 with a 30-yard touchdown pass from quarterback JC French to wide receiver Marcus Sanders Jr.
Coastal Carolina was able to get it going on the ground with a 25-yard and 14-yard rush by lead rusher Braydon Bennett. The Chanticleers would however settle with a 38-yard field goal by kicker Kade Hensley for Coastal’s first points of the game.
Chanticleer linebacker Clev Lubin forced a fumble with about 10 minutes in half which would lead to an intercepted pass thrown by Ethan Vasko. Vasko would finish the day 10/15 with 95 yards and two interceptions.
The Chanticleers opened up the second half with a 67-yard run by Braydon Bennett, leading to 23-yard field goal for Coastal.
Late in the 4th quarter, Coastal made the switch at quarterback to Noah Kim, who immediately threw a 25-yard pass to wide receiver Senika McKie. Kim would fumble and lose the ball on the following play.
Following an interception by cornerback Dorrian Smith thrown by Noah Kim, the Eagles scored a touchdown up the middle by running back Jalen White, ultimately sealing the game for Georgia Southern with a final score of 26-6.
Coastal Carolina Football used this game to honor those that serve and continue to serve in the United States military by recognizing veterans and active duty members throughout the game.
Additionally, 120 students from North and South Carolina performed alongside the Chanticleer Regiment during the game. This opportunity was provided through the CCU Band Blast event, held by Coastal Carolina’s music department.
