Senior women’s tennis player Jesse Hollins is graduating in May from Coastal Carolina University, where she has made her mark both on and off the court.
Hollins started her career at a young age because both of her sisters played, and she has always liked the competitive atmosphere. She said she has enjoyed her time at Coastal and playing in the Sun Belt Conference.
With graduation around the corner, Hollins has been thinking about the lessons she learned while being on the team and how it has helped her career.
“Having the aspect of being on a team, you sometimes have to be a leader. You learn to deal with different situations, different people and just get along,” Hollins said. “If you work together, you can accomplish a lot together.”
During her time at Coastal, she has been honored with the All-Sun Belt Second Team for doubles play in 2023 as well as First Team for doubles play in 2022.
She has plans to coach young and aspiring tennis players after graduation.
“I am gonna try and keep on coaching with it. I think it’s a great tool I have in my pocket. I teach a lot of kids over the summer and run some camps, so I definitely wanna try and keep that going,” Hollins said
She still plans on pursuing tennis after her career at Coastal, as tennis will always be something she takes with her everywhere she goes.
“I am excited to graduate and be in the real world just because tennis has been my whole life. It’s gonna be fun trying something else out. But, I will miss competing on a team and supporting my school,” she said.
Hollins said there have been a lot of people and different experiences that got her to where she is today. As far as her experiences at CCU, she said it’s been a good ride.
