Coastal Carolina University’s club hockey
team played against their rival, the Liberty
University Flames, on Friday, Feb. 9 and
Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Carolina Ice Palace
in Charleston, South Carolina.
The Chants lost the first game on Friday
night 5-4 in overtime after the Flames
overcame a late deficit in regulation. The
Chants bounced back on Saturday afternoon
with a 4-3 win in another tightly contested
game.
There were over 60 fans in attendance for
the game including Mary Beth O’Brien, who
traveled from Boston to watch her son play.
O’Brien said she has traveled for her son’s
games his whole life and still tries to make it
to a few games a year if possible.
“It was a great weekend. I think Liberty
is always a really tough competitor and the
games were really close but it was nice to see
them pull out the win today,” she said.
