We at The Chanticleer believe it is important to celebrate Black History Month. As the student voice of Coastal Carolina University, a predominately white institution, we must use our platform to amplify Black voices, stories and experiences.
There were 29 days in February this year. That’s 696 hours and 41,760 minutes out of the 8,760 hours in a year. Embrace the power of 696 hours — dedicate, absorb and amplify Black history, to encourage Black excellence, culture and beauty. 
White History Month is 8,760 hours of the year, the history is already well-documented and widely known.
Black history makes our history whole.
