Upcoming conversation with Tunisian-Italian artist
Graphic journalist and comic creator Takoua Ben Mohamed will be talking about her experience growing up in Italy as a Muslim woman in a Zoom event on March 14 at 5:30 p.m.
Mohamed is an artist of Tunisian descent whose work focuses on examining private and public life for Muslim women and the paradoxes of transnational identities. She also co-founded the film production company BM Entertainment Ltd., where she helped produce the documentary film “Hijab style” for Al Jazeera Documentary Channel.
She’s received several awards, including being named D la Repubblica’s Italian woman of the year in 2021.
The event is sponsored by the Intercultural Language and Resource Center and Women’s and Gender Studies program as part of the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) guest speaker series.
