How has the transition been between winter break and spring semester?

“The weather’s been pretty nice. It’s good to have friends back because I stayed here while everyone went home. So, I was very isolated as compared to now when everyone is back here. Classes are a lot better, a lot less chaotic, and a lot more enjoyable. It seems like it’s going to be a pretty good semester.”
Joshua Perry
Year: Sophomore
Major: Commercial music and jazz

“It’s been pretty good. I’d say I am less busy because I’m not doing marching band that meets in the evenings. Classes are alright and I get to practice more so that’s good. We did go to London over New Year’s. It was amazing, a great experience, something I’ll probably never forget. It was my first time traveling, first time out of the country, first time on a plane. It was very fun.”

“It’s tough. I just didn’t want to come back, but I am here and it’s not hard. I moved out of my dorm this semester. So, I went back to living at home. Dorm life just wasn’t for me and it’s made a lot of stuff better. ”

“So far, it’s been pretty good. At first it was a little rocky, but as I got back into the routine it’s been good. I did work and it was really crazy with the holidays. So, I am trying to not work and get back into school mode.”

“I am with the Chanticleer Regiment, so I went to London with them. When we came back, I had like three days to get back into the swing of things and just straight into the next semester. So, it was a really fun winter break because I got to go out of the country, but there wasn’t as much time as it could have been. The transition is going a lot better because since I was in London, I got a renewed sense of purpose and motivation. I am going into this semester a lot stronger than I did the fall.”
Lizzy Arnold
Year: Junior
Major: Theatre

“It’s been a bit different because I was abroad for the fall semester. In Italy, I was studying physical theater. It’s been a little bit strange settling into life again, but I’ve been enjoying my classes. It’s also hard because I had close friends that are still abroad. I do miss the culture and trying to speak Italian… and failing miserably. Traveling was really nice.”
