Final home football game preview
The 8-1 Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers will soon welcome the 5-4 University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles to Brooks Stadium in their final home game of the 2022 Season. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12.
The Chants are coming off a huge win over rival Appalachian State University in a 35-28 victory to put them at the top of the Sun Belt Conference. The Golden Eagles, on the other hand, are looking to bounce back after a 42-14 defeat by Georgia State which put an end to their three-game winning streak.
This is the first even matchup between these teams, as this is Southern Miss’s first season as a Sun Belt member.
The Golden Eagles’ offense is led by a rushing attack, averaging 118 yards per game. Sophomore running back Frank Gore Jr., the son of former NFL running back Frank Gore, leads the team with 742 yards and five touchdowns.
The Chanticleers are led by a balanced passing and rushing attack. They average 174.6 yards per game on the ground, and rank sixth in the nation in passing efficiency. Running backs Reese White and CJ Beasley are responsible for the majority of the carries in recent weeks, as one true player is not the bell cow for the Chants.
Both these teams look to finish the last quarter of the season strong as the Chants aim for another ten-win season, and the Golden Eagles look to stay above .500.
