At heads with App State
Appalachian State University (App State) will pay Coastal Carolina University (CCU) a visit at Brooks Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3.
The two rivals have played each other every year since 2017, with App State winning four out of the five previous games. App State defeated 14th-ranked undefeated Coastal Carolina last year at an away game 30-27.
The Chanticleers have had a fantastic 2022 season coming into this game with a record of 6-1 and will look to improve that against the App State Mountaineers. The Mountaineers have had a rocky season to this point with a 4-3 record, including a win against No. 6 Texas A&M University.
Two of the best quarterbacks in the Sun Belt Conference lead both offenses. The Mountaineers are led by former Clemson quarterback Chase Brice who has thrown for 1,736 passing yards and 18 touchdowns through seven games.
CCU quarterback Grayson McCall is having a great season with 1,940 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and throwing only one interception. McCall is currently tied for the second-best of all quarterbacks.
Both defenses have been struggling to make stops all season and will be looking to figure out how to stop each other’s high powered offenses. Coastal Carolina has given up a total of 414 total yards a game this season. App State has not been much better defensively as they give up an average of 137 rushing yards per game.
The Mountaineers will look to capitalize off of Coastal’s poor pass coverage while The Chanticleers will try to establish a run game against App State.
Coastal will try to improve their record in the Sun Belt in their quest to take home a Conference Championship.
